SURMOUNT-1 (n=2,539): 22.5% mean weight loss at 72 weeks on 15 mg vs 2.4% placebo; 57% of participants achieved ≥20% weight loss. SURMOUNT-5 vs semaglutide 2.4 mg: 20.2% vs 13.7% weight reduction at 72 weeks, statistically superior. FDA-approved as Zepbound for obesity (November 2023) and Mounjaro for T2DM (May 2022). SURPASS programme (5 phase-3 trials): HbA1c reductions of 1.87–2.58% across T2DM populations. SURMOUNT-4 confirmed sustained weight loss and rebound on discontinuation.
